Genetics, tobacco use, certain foods, and some medications can all cause your teeth to adopt a darker, unattractive shade. We offer both take-home and in-office Charleston teeth whitening to help you achieve a dazzling, healthy-looking smile. Whether you are whitening your teeth for the first time, or are coming in for a routine maintenance visit, you will leave feeling more youthful, vivacious and confident!

What is teeth whitening?

While it’s perfectly natural and human to have yellowing, stained teeth, it can significantly erode your self-image. You may even become shy to smile or laugh, depending on the severity of the discoloration. Luckily, there is an excellent, easy-to-accomplish solution at the Charleston Center for Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry. Teeth whitening in Charleston is one of the simplest ways to improve your appearance. Many patients feel their smile appears healthier after teeth whitening, and they enjoy an overall rejuvenated appearance.

Who is a good candidate for teeth whitening?

Nearly anyone whose adult teeth have fully developed, and who wishes to brighten his or her smile, is a good candidate for teeth whitening in Charleston, SC. If you are considering a porcelain veneer, or if you are in need of a dental crown or bridge, you may want to consider having your teeth whitened first. That way, your custom veneer or restoration can be color-matched to your bright new smile, creating a beautiful overall enhancement.

What are the benefits of teeth whitening?

Over-the-counter products can take weeks to show an impact, but our dentist can brighten your teeth by several shades in just one short appointment. By removing surface stains, you'll likely find yourself smiling more often and more easily. This simple treatment can boost your confidence and even improve your mood.

What is in-office teeth whitening in Charleston?

Our Charleston cosmetic dentistry office, serving Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach, and nearby areas, uses the Opalescence Boost System to provide dramatic results in about two hours. This type of teeth whitening relies on a powerful whitening gel to eliminate very deep dental stains.

First, a special guard is placed in the mouth to isolate the teeth and protect the soft tissues. Next, a hydrogen peroxide-based gel is applied to the teeth. After about 15 minutes, the gel is removed, and a new coat of gel is applied. This process is repeated a total of three times. Finally, you will leave our office with a dazzling smile that will continue to lighten over the next couple of days.

Dr. Rink genuinely cares about his patients, and when I had a tooth “emergency” on Sunday I called his office just meaning to leave a message to see him Monday. He called me back in 5 minutes to get me in on Sunday so I didn’t have to miss work! He’s a great talented dentist and an awesome person in general.

How can I maintain my results?

Teeth whitening in Charleston, can produce incredible long-term effects, which you can maximize by taking measures to avoid staining your teeth. For the first twenty-four hours after treatment, you should avoid dark soda, berries, red wine, mustard, coffee, and other foods that can stain your teeth. Refraining from tobacco use is also always highly recommended.

If you return to drinking tea and coffee, try to use a straw. If you enjoy red wine, don't immediately run for your toothbrush – the acidic wine can temporarily weaken tooth enamel, and brushing may cause more harm than good at that point. Instead, try chasing your wine with some soda water, or a piece of broccoli, which provides your teeth with a natural and very gentle scrubbing. As always, regular brushing and flossing can also go a long way toward helping you maintain white teeth. To Our Family of Patients,

After much thought and concern for the health of our patients and team, I would like to share with you my thoughts on how the Coronavirus outbreak in the United States can best be managed at our practice. The key issue is prevention. Social distancing is the best solution at this time to prevent the spread of the virus.

Therefore, in conjunction with the South Carolina Dental Association recommendations, I have decided to close our normal practice operation with the exception of emergency and urgent care situations, through the end of March, 2020. I will be available for you and your family for emergency and urgent needs. Please call my personal cell phone if you have any questions or if you need an office visit. I am here for you.

After we have weathered this storm, we will be here to see that you continue to have the excellent care that you and your families deserve. We thank you for the trust that you place in our practice. We look forward to a long and healthy relationship in the future.
