What to Expect
Professional teeth cleanings can be simple and comfortable. Before the cleaning, your hygienist will perform a visual exam to check your teeth and gums for any obvious concerns. Next, he or she will remove any plaque and tartar around the gum line and between your teeth.
When your teeth are free from buildup, your hygienist will use a high-powered electric brush to clean and polish your teeth with a special toothpaste. Next, the teeth are flossed. This part of the check-up can identify places you may be missing when you floss at home. You may also need a fluoride treatment.
We will also administer x-rays to check for any issues with underlying structures, such as the jaw and temporomandibular joints. When the hygienist has finished your cleaning, Dr. Rink will also conduct an examination, recommending any necessary treatment options based on their findings.
During your appointment, your hygienist will discuss how you can improve your oral hygiene routine at home. Regular brushing and flossing are key to protecting your smile.
