DR. JOHN F. RINK: A dental bridge is a replacement tooth that attaches to its next door neighbors by the process of crowning the neighbors. There are some dental bridges that do not require crowning of the neighbors, particularly a Maryland Bridge, where only the inside of the tooth is engaged in the attachment process. So there are alternatives for replacing missing teeth that are fixed in place, not removable, that are not dental implants that work very, very well. For the fabrication of bridge work, it requires an outside dental lab. Our outside dental lab happens to be right here on sight so that our bridges are made right across the parking lot. The advantage to that for our patients is that I can be available during the fabrication process of the bridge to instruct and be consulted by the technicians as the bridge work is being fabricated. Furthermore, if there are any changes that need to be made to improve the aesthetic result, our technicians being on sight can come right over and we can make the changes in most cases instantaneously. Therefore, we can have a very natural, well blended result with our patients face without having to have another appointment.
