DR. JOHN F. RINK: I would like to tell you about our therapy dog, Ella. It is interesting how Ella became our therapy dog. One day I did have Ella, who is my little Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, up here with me at the office. And she is very quiet and she will kind of sleep over in the corner beside my office manager’s desk. And we had a patient come in that was very, very nervous and she happened to look over and see Ella. Well this patient just started gushing about how she loved dogs and I said “Well would you like to pet her?” and she says “Sure, I would like to pet Ella.” So we let her pet Ella and so we moved her back to the operatory where we were going to be doing procedures. And so what happened was the patient instantly just relaxed and was able to go forward with her procedure which was very successfully completed and so Ella has become our little secret weapon, our Ella Therapy Dog, which we do share with our patients from time to time.
